Cat Invaders How to Beat Floppa
The first named Cat Invaders boss: HP spike, lasers, and a shop plan that actually works.
Floppa is the first Cat Invaders fight that feels like a raid marker. The badge text is honest: first big encounter. About one in five runs that reach him actually get the Defeat Floppa badge. The rest stand on the fish, ignore green ground, and watch a laser delete the base.
This guide assumes you already did Getting Started and understand the shop from how to play. If your ranged weapon is still the tutorial throw, go buy damage before you practice kiting.
When Floppa shows up
Most public VODs put the first Floppa around the wave 50 block. Your server may drift a few waves if the group is slow or if you skipped packs. Treat “wave 45 with a full Gold bar” as boss time even if the nametag has not appeared.
He is large, he has a lot of HP compared to normal cats (community fights mention thousands, scaling with how far your lobby has pushed), and he uses laser beams you have to sidestep. He will chase a player who kites away from the base, which is useful — you can drag him off the fish if the team needs a repair window.
Shop plan before the spawn
- Ranged weapon should already be several ranks in. Snowball / yarn / other splash beats trying to melee a house-sized cat.
- Buy regen armor if you have around 3,000 Gold. Wave tutorials call this out specifically for the wave-50 boss.
- Stock food. Tuna is the meme; any heal that you can eat mid-strafe is correct.
- Walls help the lane, but do not spend your last 3,000 Gold on wood and then fight naked.
- If you have a Medic, they buy food first and stand off the laser line. See builds.
Upgrade priority is the same list in checklist form.
The fight
Strafe perpendicular to lasers. Do not backpedal in a straight wooden corridor — that is how the wave-99 screenshots become obituaries. Circle the arena edge, keep shooting, and eat when the regen armor is not enough.
If you get hit, that is allowed. Regen exists so you can take a mistake. What is not allowed is standing in green ground “for a second.” Jump it. Walk out. Green is not a heal.
Kite Floppa away from the fish if he commits to you. Teammates repair walls and delete add cats. Adds still eat the objective while you are filming the boss.
Melee only if you are a Knight who already bought plates and the laser is on someone else. Everyone else stays at range. The weapon tier list is not optional here.
Co-op callouts
- “Laser on me” — others DPS, you strafe.
- “Fish” — someone peels adds off the pile.
- “Pause if we can” — emergency food / armor buy. Public servers may not freeze.
- “Don’t melee the feet” — stacking under Floppa is how the whole lobby takes splash.
Solo is slower but readable. Aim assist on, as in controls. Drag the boss in a wide circle, dump splash into his hitbox, eat, repeat.
After the badge
Defeat Floppa is not the end of the ladder. El Gato is the tanky follow-up. Bongo Cat was the release-era wall. King Meowl and Emperor Maxwell are later, much rarer badges. Those fights reuse this same skill: range, food, don’t stand in color, don’t dump all Gold into walls. The high-wave guide is the continuation.
If you want a second attempt the same night, Golden Weekend x2 Gold makes the 3,000 armor buy less painful. Codes on the codes hub are a one-time bump; they will not skip the kite.
Wipe notes to write down: Did you have regen armor? Did you have food? Did you stand still? If the answers are no, no, yes, that was not a DPS check. That was a shop check. Fix the shop, then come back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Cat Invaders questions.
What wave is Floppa in Cat Invaders?
Usually around wave 50. Prepare at wave 45 if you already have the Gold for regen armor.
How much HP does Floppa have?
Thousands, and it scales with how far the lobby has pushed. Treat it as a kite, not a melee burst.
Should I melee Floppa?
Only as a geared Knight while someone else holds lasers. Ranged splash is the default clear.
Does beating Floppa unlock a class?
It awards the Defeat Floppa badge. Classes still come from shop unlocks and dailies such as Alchemist.
