How to Play Cat Invaders
The full wave-defense loop after you leave the beginner checklist.
Cat Invaders is easy to describe and easy to misplay. You defend a base of fish from waves of meme cats. Gold drops from kills and wave clears. The shop turns Gold into weapons, food, armor, walls, turrets, classes, and perks. The run ends when the cats eat what you were supposed to protect — or when you get bored at wave 200.
This page is the systems guide. If you have not done a single run, start with Getting Started instead. If you already bounce off Floppa, skip ahead to how to beat Floppa.
The core loop
- Start a wave (solo or with a group).
- Kill cats before they reach the food.
- Collect Gold (and hearts / fish pickups if they spawn).
- Pause or use the shop between pressure spikes.
- Upgrade the thing that is currently losing you the run.
- Repeat until a named boss or a green puddle says otherwise.
Damage solves most problems until HP pools jump. Then you need food, regen armor, and space. Walls are time, not damage. Turrets from crates are extra time. Classes are extra rules.
Combat tracks
Melee — chicken legs, swords, later heavy swings. Best for the first coins and for finishing stragglers. Bad as your only plan after packs thicken.
Ranged — snowballs that upgrade into heavier throws, bows, yarn balls that bounce between cats, grenades, laser cannons. This is the solo carry. Rankings: weapon tier list.
Food — tuna and other heals. There are upgrades that make food effectively infinite if you keep buying the track. Eat between boss slam patterns, not during them if the animation roots you.
Armor — Knight-style plates and regen sets. Buy before bosses, not after you are already broke.
Walls — wooden lanes that funnel cats. Useful in co-op when one player is the mason. Dangerous if they eat your Gold and you never bought range.
Classes in actual matches
Classes are not reskins. Medic revives and heals, which is why random 18-player lobbies still wipe without one. Knight leans tank. Snowman leans AoE snowball. Ninja shows up in grind discussions as a later unlock people script toward. Alchemist is the week-long daily. Grenade kits exist as a throw playstyle.
Pick from the class tier list and flesh out the kit on player classes. Perks stack on top; they are progression, not a replacement for aiming.
Solo and co-op rules of the road
Solo: cats funnel harder, you own every Gold pile, pause is yours. Enable aim assist. Stand where splash covers the spawn without standing in it.
Co-op (online, max 18): call a shop lead. Split Gold purposes — one ranged carry, one wall/food, one Medic. If everyone is a main character, the fish dies. Builds: loadouts.
You cannot turn Cat Invaders into a local split-screen couch game. It is a Roblox server. Invite friends into the same instance.
Hazards people ignore
Gameplay VODs keep repeating the same warning: green ground is bad. Red telegraphs are also bad. Jump or walk out. Do not tank puddles because you just bought armor.
Bosses add lasers (Floppa), raw HP (El Gato), and later spectacle (Bongo Cat, King Meowl, Emperor Maxwell). Treat each badge as a gear check. The badges page lists win rates so you know which name is a wall.
Shop discipline
Pause when you can. Impulse-buy walls only if cats are literally chewing wood. Keep a Gold buffer for the next ranged rank. Merchant coin boosts beat almost every vanity. Codes are a one-time buffer — active list — not a lifestyle.
During Golden Weekend the loop is the same with twice the Gold from combat. That is the session to push a new wave badge, not to experiment with a joke melee.
Scripts versus playing
Public loaders advertise auto farm, kill aura, auto food, auto wall repair, and auto upgrade. They are covered on the scripts hub and auto farm pages. They are not how the game is designed to be played, they can break after a Thursday patch, and they can violate Roblox rules. This how-to-play article assumes you are clicking.
What to open next
- Movement and HUD: controls
- First boss: Floppa
- Wave 100 route: high waves
- Shopping order: upgrade priority
Play the loop until spending Gold feels boringly obvious. That boredom is skill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Cat Invaders questions.
Is Cat Invaders a tower defense?
It is a Roblox survival wave defense with player combat, walls, and turrets. You are the tower as much as the wood is.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Online co-op on servers of up to 18 players. There is no local split-screen mode.
What is the main currency?
Gold. Codes, waves, and Golden Weekend multipliers all feed the same shop.
Do I have to upgrade everything?
No. Solo mains usually stack ranged damage first. Walls and armor come in for bosses.
